A Native American Roach Headdress is a traditional, stiff, upright crest worn on the head, commonly crafted from porcupine guard hair, deer tail hair, and turkey beard hair.   Originating from Eastern tribes and adopted by many others, it was historically worn by warriors as a sign of honor and is frequently seen today in pow wow dancing. It is also a staple of men's, boys', and Tiny Tot regalia, particularly in Plains and Eastern styles. It is often worn at the back of the head or attached to the scalp-lock.

This particular roach is made of porcupine guard hair made by a member of the Crow Tribe. It has been displayed on a handcrafted wooden base, studded leather collar, and a carved, stained wooden mannequin head complimenting this roach headdress beautifully.
