This is a mid-19th to early 20th century letterpress printing block made of copper and wood. The image features a relief engraving of a classical, gothic candlestick. These were used in the printing industry to stamp specific illustrations or symbols onto paper, often for religious publications, stationary, or church bulletins. Because they function as stamps, the design on the block is a mirror image of the final printed result.
